Our Major Project for ISC for RY2020 was the Bali water project which aims to provide clean and potable water to over 650 residents in the mountainous region of Kerangasem, East Bali.  Water is a basic need of everyone and it is even more pronounced now with the Covid19 Pandemic. We need clean water to keep this disease at bay. This is a joint project between the Rotary Club of Singapore, the Rotary Club of Bali Denpasar, and the Rotary Club of Bali Tirta Gangga to provide clean water to Gulinten Sub-Village, Bunutan Village, Bali.

Currently, these villagers have to walk up to 4 hours a day to get just clean water from a water spring down a steep mountain.  This project aims to pump the water to within 500m of everyone’s homes and provide filtration devices so as to make the clean water potable.  This will not only improve the hygiene in the community but allow more time for the children to study and for the families to have a livelihood.

We have received all the MOU’s from our partner Rotary Clubs, RC Bali Denpasar, and RC Tirta Ganga, as well as MOU from the community leaders in Kerangasem.  The 3 RC Clubs are providing the raw material and consultation for this project but the building and installation will be done by the villagers themselves.  Despite the lockdowns, the community has worked on the project and it's nearly done! The upkeep of the pumps and piping moving forward will be done by the community.

We thank all RC Singapore members who have generously contributed towards this meaningful.
