Vishal Harnal is a Managing Partner at 500 Global, a Silicon Valley-headquartered venture capital firm with $2.1B in assets under management investing in globally ambitious founders building fast-growing technology companies. The firm has backed over 5,000 founders representing more than 3,000 companies operating in 80+ countries.
He began his career in venture capital almost a decade ago, when he co-founded the firm’s Southeast Asia investment practice. That practice has invested in over 300 companies from early-stage to growth equity. Some early investments include Grab (NASDAQ: GRAB), Bukalapak (IDX: BUKA), Prenetics (NASDAQ: PRE), Carousell, Carsome, Gilmour Space, Stockbit, among over 300 others.
Vishal is a Kauffman Fellow and has taught VC programmes at Stanford, INSEAD and the Singapore-MIT Alliance. His interests have always been at the intersection of technology and humanity, and at the frontiers of science. He is particularly excited about the clash of AI and healthcare and human longevity. He also hosts The Unreasonable Podcast on Spotify to help more people understand technology and investing. He lives between Singapore, Tokyo and the Bay Area.
